St Joseph's Nursing Home
| This twenty four bedroom home (with some ensuite facilities) is run by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Littlehampton who have been in this seaside town for over one hundred years. Our history of Holistic Care of the individual and the dedication necessary is encaptured within our philosophy and approach and is supported by a strong religious conviction that each person is unique. |

Joseph's Nursing Home, Littlehampton |

Our
Home is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is subject
to statutory inspections. However it is our policy to have the highest
standard of care for each individual and to have staff who maintain this
quality of care within St. Joseph’s 24 hours a day. St. Joseph’s has the services of the East Street Medical Centre. Residents can continue having their own GP visit if this is mutually agreed. |
|||
| Dentists, Opticians,
Chiropodist, Hairdresser and other services can visit when necessary
or visits to these services can be arranged. Any financial costs involved
is the residents’ responsibility. We operate
a NO SMOKING POLICY in the home. |
|
|||
| |
All
medication must be handed in on admission. Self medication must be kept
in the locked cabinet provided in each room, after signing a declaration
supporting administration and storing. Our aim is to enhance life not hinder it. Within a safe home environment, we encourage residents to take pride in their room, in the home and to create a homely place. There is a Nurse call system in all the bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets and communal areas. There is a passenger lift to the first floor. We encourage independence and freedom of movement as desired. Wheelchair access is available throughout the home. |
|||
| We
recognise that privacy is important but likewise that companionship is
also important. We encourage the use of the garden area and communal area.
From time to time group activities are arranged both inside and outside
the home. All visitors are welcome but fire regulations require them to
sign the visitor’s book on entry and leaving the home. Our new mini
bus can transport our residents and staff to varying places of interest.
Residents may have their own private telephone line but they will be responsible
for installation rental and call charges. |
||||
| All valuables brought
to the home are the resident’s responsibility. We will willingly
look after any valuable item but this must be given to the Nurse Manager.
The Sister Bursar will look after money.
|
||||
In the interest of Health and Safety all electrical equipment brought into the home must first be checked. Please inform the Nurse Manager so that a check can be arranged. There is a set Fire Policy within the home. All bedroom and fire doors close automatically when the fire alarm sounds. Staff will guide the residents to safety. |
||||
We
encourage our residents to express their views in relation to the standard
of care they receive. If you are unhappy with any aspect of care then
please bring the matter to the attention of the Deputy Nurse or the Nurse
Manager. If the matter is not resolved then it should be brought to the
attention of the Superior of the House or our Trustees of the Congregation.
The Nurse Manager will provide you with names. However, we hope that this will not be necessary and that your stay in St. Joseph’s will be a very enjoyable experience. You will be part of the community of the home and a valuable member in helping to radiate the love, care and understanding for other members, who like you, have chosen St. Joseph’s as their home too. |
||||
| It
is a fundamental principle of St Joseph’s Nursing Home that the
staff should have an expression of totally committed Christian care. |
||||
| It is advisable to have a Will made before entering St Joseph’s Nursing Home. Any changes of address of next of kin should be notified to the home. Personal records maintained at the home are confidential and will only be revealed to authorised personnel. Should you require any further information about any aspect of St Joseph’s Nursing Home, please do not hesitate to ask. Please come and visit St Joseph’s and see the facilities for yourself. |
