Christmas 2024

On 6th December, Sister Susan took a selection of Christmas nativity scenes to form part of an exhibition in Littlehampton United Church.  The exhibition featured many styles of crib, made from a variety of materials.  The event, including a shop and refreshments, raised funds for the Mumbasa Children charity which supports a school in Kenya. This event was a great success and made £600 for the charity.

On the evening of 18th December, the Friendship Singers visited St Joseph’s Littlehampton.  They sang carols outside residents’ rooms in the nursing home.  Afterwards, they enjoyed refreshments with the community.  It was a great blessing for residents, staff and community to hear their music, which certainly spread the Christmas spirit around St Joseph’s.

In our Indian community, Sr Promodini is involved in prison ministry for Mysore Diocese.  On 21st December, she attended a liturgical celebration at the prison, led by the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese, and gave the opening welcome speech.

Mass on Christmas morning was celebrated in St Joseph’s Convent chapel by our chaplain, Fr. Seamus Hester.  It began with a blessing of the Christmas crib on the sanctuary.  The crib background was painted by our Sister Immaculata R.I.P. Mass was livestreamed on YouTube and can be watched on St Joseph’s Convent, Littlehampton channel (link below).
